Nicola and Katy are both experienced and versatile singers. They formed collaboration in 2003 and began performing, recording and teaching together.
They have run vocal and performance workshops and summer schools with Nicola’s company ‘Umbrella Music & Arts and established Colchester’s first contemporary youth choir ‘Cords’ in 2004 for which they received the Colchester youth award for arts (2005).
It was in 2004 that Cherry Sundae was born. During their time together, and presently, the girls continue to work on other projects individually.
Nicola Bull
At 26 Nicola has already been a professional working singer for over 10 years. Previous work includes Oz Clarke (12-piece function band), Pier 59 (pop band) and B sharp duo (Cabaret).
Most recently she has worked with the London based group ‘Bassistry’ with whom she has recorded ‘In time’ (High-barn label) working with some of the most sought after jazz musicians in the country.
Nicola, a grade 8 pianist, is also a highly respected piano and singing teacher, working regularly in Colchester and in the performing arts. She currently teaches contemporary voice at the Colchester Institute and is founding director of ‘Umbrella Music & Arts’.
Katy Seath
At the age of 20, Katy was nominated for an award for ‘Best Female’ at the national Urban Voice competition.She has performed on a number of prestigious London stages, collaborated with other artists on music projects and provided lead and backing vocals for commercial tracks.
After completing a drama degree at Manchester University, Katy decided to take her skills and mould a career in singing, writing and teaching. She has also most recently recorded and performed with Bassistry and is an established teacher for ‘Artis.’
